Tongue Drum
The precisely pentatonic-tuned Profiline tongue drum can be used as a rhythm and melody instrument. Comes with two mallets.
In 1988, Boing Klangkoerper developed a special technique for tuning slit drums to a high perfection. The tropical oily wood, Padouk, is preferable as it does not accumulate humidity and therefore holds the tuning. Can be played with the hand or with the included mallets. You can even sit on the drum and play it.

"I am always eager to discover new and interesting slants on existing instrument ideas. The quality and endurance of this Tongue Drum makes it a great addition to my arsenal of instruments and sound colours, as well as being a fun source for children and the elderly to easily execute their curiosity". I use the slit drum as a duo improvisation instrument. Two players sit facing each other and I place the slit drum on their knees. Both of the players have sticks in their hand and interact playing together. Usually I can see a smile on their faces. There are no wrong sounds on this instrument and in addition, you get to fell the vibration of the instrument. Michael Reimann, Multiinstrumentalist + Producer, Engelskirchen | ![]() |
