Tepo

KLI-01

The Aztec name for a tongue drum is Teponatzli.
Easy to play, durable, free-tuned slitdrum. Fun to play and very versatile. What other drum already has 8 tones right from the beginning? Comes with two mallets.

Trees hollowed by lightning or old age and modified by humans have been used as musical instruments by all peoples on earth. For example, in Japan they were used to signal news from one temple to another; in Africa they were used as tribal telephones; the Aztec (Teponatzli) had a tongue drum with two tongues beautifully adorned with jaguars.

The tongue drum is made only out of wood, perhaps the ancestor of the xylophone. Great instrument if you work with kids. It is durable, stable and has no loose bars that can be lost.
