Native American flute. If I want to get some distance and I drive over to the river Lippe, which I did on that day. I found a shady place under a river willow. Across the river, someone had set up a teepee on the meadow and I smiled, taking my flute out of its cover. I played for awhile, and was surprised when after awhile, some birds started a dialogue with me. This was interrupted suddenly with loud voices and shortly thereafter, I could see a canoe on the water coming around the bend. The men in the canoe enjoyed themselves, emptying the keg of beer they had brought with them. I already had stopped playing the flute. When they saw me, they shouted:”Come on, you do not have to stop playing because of us. You sounded very good!”. I stayed silent. When they paddled past me, one turned around and asked:”Are you a Native American?” After awhile, after they disappeared around the next bend of the river, I took the flute back into my hand. From far away, I could hear:”Listen, he is playing again.” Werner Worschech, Sound Therapist and Musician, Bottrop | ![]() |
